Will the same crew be there the whole time?

Yes — your core management team is with you start to finish. For the trades, we use dedicated companies for each stage — framing, electrical, plumbing, drywall, and so on — and we've had long relationships with each of them; we don't swap our sub-trades from job to job. So while different specialists come in for their parts, they're the same trusted companies we always work with, coordinated by your project managers.

How do you protect the rest of my house during construction?

We treat your home like it's ours. We lay floor runners from the top of the basement stairs to the front door to protect your floors along the access path, and we use a coded lockbox on the front door so the crew can get in and out without disrupting you. The work stays contained to the basement, we manage dust, and we keep the site clean day to day.

What are your working hours on site?

Our typical on-site hours are Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. If for any reason a trade needs access outside those hours, we'll arrange it with you in advance — never unannounced.

Question 4

Will I have access to my furnace/laundry during the build?

Accepted Answer

Yes — we plan the work so you keep access to essentials like your furnace, hot water, and laundry wherever possible. If a stage of the build means a utility has to be briefly offline (say, during a mechanical tie-in), we'll give you notice ahead of time. Keeping your home functional during the build is part of how we work.

Do you put a bin/dumpster on our driveway?

No — and that's a deliberate difference. Each of our trades is responsible for removing their own garbage, so we don't leave a bin sitting on your driveway for the length of the project the way many of our competitors do. It keeps your driveway clear and the site tidier.

Can the trades use our bathroom?

Accepted Answer

We confirm what you're comfortable with before we start. Most of the time clients are fine with the trades using the main-floor bathroom; if you'd rather they didn't, we can rent a porta-potty for the site instead. Either way we keep things clean and respectful of your home.

How do the trades enter our house each day?

Through a coded lockbox on the front door. It lets the crew get in and out for their scheduled work without you having to be home or let anyone in — and it means no keys floating around. We coordinate the schedule so you always know who's coming and when.

What happens if my basement floods during or after the build?

First, an important distinction: we finish basements, we don't waterproof against an existing water problem — if there's a known leak or foundation issue, that needs fixing first (by a foundation/waterproofing specialist). For the work we do, our 5-year warranty covers our workmanship and materials. If water shows up during the build, we stop and address the source with you. If it happens after, reach out right away and we'll help figure out whether it's something covered by our warranty or a separate issue like a plumbing failure or groundwater, and point you the right way.

Can I make changes once construction has started?

Accepted Answer

Yes — it's your basement. If you want to change something mid-build, we'll price it with you first and you approve before we proceed, so there are no surprises, and we'll be upfront about any effect on the schedule. The earlier a change comes, the easier it is to absorb, but we'll work with you either way.

Will there be a lot of dust upstairs?

We work hard to keep it minimal. The work is contained to the basement, and we use dust control — sealing off the work area and managing airflow — to keep dust from migrating upstairs. No renovation is completely dust-free, but most homeowners are surprised how contained it stays. We also clean up as we go and do a full clean at the end.

Do I need to be home while the crew works?

Accepted Answer

No — you don't need to be home. The crew accesses the basement through a coded lockbox, so they can come and go for their scheduled work without you being there. Plenty of clients carry on with work and normal life while we build. You'll always know who's scheduled and when, and your project managers are reachable if anything comes up.

How do you secure the site overnight?

We lock up at the end of each day — the coded lockbox controls access, the work stays contained to the basement, and the crew tidies the site before leaving. Your home is secured as it normally would be; we're careful about doors, windows, and entry points.

Will my utilities (power/water) be interrupted?

Generally no — we plan the work so your power and water stay on. If a specific stage requires briefly shutting off a utility (during an electrical or plumbing tie-in, say), we give you notice ahead of time and keep it as short as possible. Keeping your home functional through the build is part of how we work.

Who do I contact if I have a concern during the build?

Your on-site project managers, Josh and Matt, are your direct line during the build, and Peggy and Kloe in the office are your day-to-day contacts. You'll always know who to call — and we'd much rather hear about a concern right away than have you sit on it. Raising it early is how we keep things on track and make it right.

Question 17

Will the crew wear masks or take any precautions in my home?

A few things we do as standard: all our trades carry their own WCB coverage, we keep floor runners down to protect your floors, and we only spray latex paint — never lacquer — so there are no airborne toxins during the paint stage. If you have any specific requests for working in your home, just let us know and we'll accommodate them.
